“This year we will present a special free screening of the winner of the Cadillac People’s Choice Award on September 19, the last day of the Festival,” says Cameron Bailey, Co-Director of the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Toronto International Film Festival is proud to welcome back the Cadillac People’s Choice Awards and their commitment to recognizing the Festival audience’s favourites. The Cadillac People’s Choice Award crowns the most popular film at the Festival as chosen by the public through a voting process that takes place at screenings throughout the 11 days of the Festival. The honours are awarded to the overall favourite as well as to the most crowd-pleasing films in the Midnight Madness and Documentary programmes.
The Cadillac People’s Choice Award is the ultimate popularity contest and recognizes the fan favourite film of the Festival. In 2009, this award was presented to Lee Daniels' Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire. Previous winners include Danny Boyle’s multiple Academy Award®-winning Slumdog Millionaire, and David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises.
