Confessions Of A Girl Gang
The latest film from Palme d’Or winner Laurent Cantet (Entre les murs) is a vivid adaptation of the celebrated Joyce Carol Oates novel about a small-town girl gang in the 1950s.
Set in the 1950s, a a group of young girls in upstate New York form their own gang.
Set in 1950s America, the story follows a group of headstrong teenage girls. Uniting into a sisterhood of blood, they form the Foxfire gang, a secret female-only society, recognised by the flame tattooed on the back of its members’ shoulders.
‘Foxfire’ is an intriguing choice for Cantet; it’s already made it to the screen once before, in 1996, directed by Annette Haywood-Carter and starring a young Angelina Jolie.
